Laundry room update
You propably all know this: drying laundry is not the most esthetic thing in the household. This also why it is so hard to find good reference pictures about utility rooms. Drying devices are not suitable for families with two little kids and lot's of dirty clothes all the time. Your local shop provides you with decent but not that interesting items and your reliable design provider misses the though that you actually need space for drying laundry for the whole amount of clothes you can fit into a washing machine. So what to do?
Then you stumble into another "problem". Why the heck have all the colors gone from the modern laundry rooms? All white and dull and no color. Why? And why did I choose the same dull neutral white / beige colors when we decided the colors in our house? I really can't say. But I have some ideas how to fix this.
The room needs color, so why just not take out your old collection of postage stamps and make a collage out of them? I contemplated on the matter a lot. Like a minute. Would it be a waste to glue the precious stamps collected when you were nine years old to an "art project". No it would not. Here we go. Color. We also bought a new towel hanger and a bench for chilling after sauna. Quite ok.
Because every laundry room needs greenery.
Really! We all have mix and match towels, kids love their Elsa and Anna or Superman themed towels and husband does not notice. Just go with it and hope that at some day you can choose your self.
Because you can't find your own drying hanger that fits your needs (aesthetic and physical), do it your self. We hanged a rope between two cabinets and it acts as a drying place for shirts and skirts. And then we hid our old drying wrack bought from your local super market behind the door.
We have white backsplash in kitchen and utility room. Panic solution. Maybe I could paint it or put colorful tiles on top of it. But for now, just think about it and let it be. Some white is always needed, like in paintings - it brings the light in.
The cat approves and does not even seem to miss his scratching pole. I think we are both satisfied for now.
1. Forget about the drying devices - lets decorate the laundry room first.

2. Get your stamps out - yes the postage stamps!

3. Get some plants

4. Get some matching clothes and linen so they don't mess up your Instagram pics

5. Create a DIY hanger
Because you can't find your own drying hanger that fits your needs (aesthetic and physical), do it your self. We hanged a rope between two cabinets and it acts as a drying place for shirts and skirts. And then we hid our old drying wrack bought from your local super market behind the door.
6. Think about doing something with the back splash
We have white backsplash in kitchen and utility room. Panic solution. Maybe I could paint it or put colorful tiles on top of it. But for now, just think about it and let it be. Some white is always needed, like in paintings - it brings the light in.
7. Get the cat a place to sleep and hide his scratching pole under the table
